Our Events!

Our organization has been apart of many different kinds of events over the past years in varying degrees of involvement. Whether its just being in attendance to honor someone, helping set up a fundraiser, or hosting our own events, it’s all about helping those who need it, bringing attention to the people and organizations who do their best to do so, and giving voices to those who need one!

The event was held on July 10th in 2024 at the Steinbeck Lodge Motel in Salinas. Pictured above is Daryl Bouie with the event staff and others.

Community Vision Event

The second event we attended was an event hosted by our own board member, LyVesha Franklin, at the Marina Library! The event was for the St.Vincent Family Preventative Healthcare.

Honoring LyVesha

At the Black Girl Magic Day Event held on February 15th, 2025, our Board member LyVesha Franklin was honored for all the work she does for everyone in the community and her many accomplishments, such as helping to bring-in specialized Doula Training. She is not just a Board Member for our organization, but for many others and all are dedicated to helping people in different ways.

Daryl Bouie attended yet another CSUMB event, this time an award ceremony honoring Leaders in the Business and Community sectors, Rancho Cielo’s CEO Chris Devers, Teddy Balestreri and others. The ceremony also award Marylou Shockley for her many years of service to the College of Business including her time as the interim Dean.

CHSP L.E.A.D BBQ

The first event that our organization attended was a BBQ hosted by Coalition of Homeless Service Providers. Specifically their L.E.A.D program! The main purpose of the event was to give food to the underserved and to try and help them out. Our CEO, Daryl Bouie, attended the event to help set it up, help barbecue, and tear-down the event once it was finished.

CSUMB Project Rebound

The first CSUMB event our organization attended, the opening of Project Rebound was the start of a program meant to help the formerly incarcerated better their lives through higher education. While the program has been active in different CSU’s for over 50 years, CSUMB only became apart of it in 2024.

Transformative Justice

Our most recent event attendance was an Open House Event hosted by CEO Megan McDrew. The purpose of the event was to promote the Empathy in Action prison volunteer program, which is a program dedicated to helping out inmates in prison, and bring attention to Kevin Cooper, a death row inmate who is widely thought of as being innocent of the crime he was accused of. Megan McDrew invited Daryl Bouie to the event, along with other VTC graduate alumns and family.
